How to Track a Package

There are numerous storefronts and carriers of ecommerce packages, making it difficult to know where to go for tracking.

If you sell online with Ecwid, the buyer will automatically receive a tracking number for their order and information about what carrier is transporting it. They can then take this number to the carrier’s website and enter it to locate their package.

However, each carrier’s website can be a little bit different.  That is why we have put together a brief guide on how to track package shipments from some of the most common carriers.

How to Track Amazon Package

Amazon is currently the largest online retailer, with a massive 37.6% of the market share. With how many packages are ordered from this online giant, there are many people regularly wondering how to track Amazon package shipments.

Fortunately, the retailer makes it relatively easy by following these instructions:

  • Go to the “Your Orders” page.
  • Select the order to track.
  • Click on the “Track Package” button next to the order.
  • Browse the tracking updates to determine the status of the package.

In some cases, the information on the Amazon page may not be updated. In this case, the user must check with the package’s carrier. The tracking number will typically be visible on the Amazon page. The user can copy and take it to the carrier’s site for more current tracking data.

As an additional note, for those wondering how to track an Amazon package in map view, the Amazon page should have a map showing the current position.

How to Track a UPS Package

For packages being delivered by UPS, head to their tracking page.

Enter the tracking number in the box at the center of the page and click “Track.” This will bring up all of the details regarding the package’s travel and its current location.

How to Track USPS Package

Tracking a package with USPS is the same process as tracking a package with UPS.

Go to the USPS tracking page, enter the tracking number into the box in the center of the screen, and click “Track.”

How to Track a FedEx Package

Follow the same process for FedEx as the other two carriers above. Head to their tracking page, enter your tracking number, and click “Track.”

FedEx also offers tracking by reference number. Simply click the tab above the tracking box that says “Track by Reference.”

How to Track a Package Without a Tracking Number

There may be some asking: can you track a package without a tracking number?

The answer is yes in many cases, as long as you have some other information related to the package.

UPS

To track a package with UPS without a tracking number, you can sign up for UPS My Choice.

This program offers a free version and a premium membership. The free version allows users to track packages without a tracking number, but the premium version allows users to change the date and address of delivery.

After creating a My Choice account, click “Tracking” at the top of the page. The page will then display all pending packages sent or received from the registered address. Select the desired package and click the tracking number link for details.

USPS

For USPS, users must sign up for Informed Delivery, which is similar to My Choice from UPS.

After creating an account, click “Track and Manage” from the top of the page and choose the desired package. Informed Delivery will allow the user to see all packages received, sent, and en route to the registered address in the last two weeks.

If users do not want to create an Informed Delivery account, they can also submit a search request by going to the “Start Your Missing Mail Search” page. However, this option is more appropriate when a package has not been delivered within 7 days of the estimated delivery date.

FedEx

FedEx also has its own program called Delivery Manager, which will have the same functions as the other two carrier programs. After creating an account, users can log into Delivery Manager to see a list of packages sent and received. Find the desired package and look under the “status” section to see tracking information.

As an alternative to creating a Delivery Manager account, users can also track their package using the door tag number from the shipment’s details/itinerary or the FedEx Office number from the itinerary.

Creating Carrier Accounts

As a side note, all of the above programs will require certain personal information to create an account, including name and valid address. Some may additionally require identification validation through security questions.

How to Track International Packages

In most cases, even international packages can be tracked. Several services, such as Stamps, can provide international tracking for multiple carriers.

I like that Ecwid was easy to start and to use. Even for a person like me, without any technical background. Very well written help articles. And the support team is the best for my opinion.
For everything it has to offer, ECWID is incredibly easy to set up. Highly recommend! I did a lot of research and tried about 3 other competitors. Just try ECWID and you'll be online in no time.
